Many individuals between the ages of twelve through eighteen naturally have their own reasons to complete tasks instead of reasons given to them by others. Some may suffer from a fragile self-esteem and need encouragement from adults, while others are instilled with an uncontrolled confidence. These factors pose special challenges for teachers and school administrators. While certain students struggle to fit in and notice hypocrisy in adults, they may become motivated to rebel against school staff and parents. Including the fact that many teenagers are sensitive about their bodies due to puberty and many prefer independence from adults, these and other factors could create a difficult environment in which to teach any topic.
